I got a few guesses to work from.

I can't believe you don't like Alan, I mean, yeah, he lies all the time and I'm only judging from the first book but, I loved how much he loved Nick. I totally didn't get the plot twists AT ALL and I usually do so I didn't think it was that predictable, guess you were cleverer than me ;)

When I first started it I hated ALL the characters except Nick, like seriously, I nearly put the book down. But by the end I really liked and rooted for all of them. Except maybe Alan, I'm not a huge fan of Alan. I think he's more psychopathic than Nick, which is saying something. Mae does get better in the next book, too.

In regards to 3rd person...it didn't really bother me that much, to be honest. as far as the show not tell thing goes, I think that because it was told from Nick's perspective it's forgiveable. He doesn't really HAVE emotions so I think he was kinda limited in HOW he got things across...if that makes sense.

I'm really glad you read and did enjoy this, though. I hope you continue with the rest of the series

The Cait Files Caithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13185442524972510158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7530705972708152378.post-39698895904044937612012-04-23T21:19:51.659-06:002012-04-23T21:19:51.659-06:00I don't mind books in third person at all but ...I don't mind books in third person at all but for some reason it was awful in this one. It's really interesting...

So, do you like books in 1st person better? I kind of like 3rd person best, even if the book is all from one person's POV. But, I can go either way. Traditionally, books were never written in 1st person, so I wonder that people expect 1st person because it's a stylistic thing nowadays.

Also, a book with telling and NO showing??! What is up with that? That is a book I would hate, probably, no matter what. I better steer clear of this one.Cathy Keatonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18356112948372149785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7530705972708152378.post-53510105617262380032012-04-23T17:30:09.620-06:002012-04-23T17:30:09.620-06:00So creative!
