Review: Three Black Swans

Title Three Black Swans
By Carolyn B Cooney
For Fun
Source Library

Synopsis
Missy is an outgoing, fun loving 16 year old who'd best friend is her cousin. Claire is reserved and sober and looks forward to her weekend sleepovers with her cousin Missy. Genevieve is a responsible, yet, lonely girl who's parents would rather be out socializing than spending time with their daughter. What do they all have in common? They all look exactly the same; completely Identical.

General thoughts
Well, first off, this book was so horribly edited that at one point the POV switched  mid paragraph. And the events were thrown together pell-mell leading to an unrealistic ending and unbelievable characters.  However, the story itself was interesting and held my attention, even if I did have to wade through bad editing, and I kept flipping pages wanting to know how it all would end. One thing I enjoyed was the authors ability to capture and define each of the girls personalities. They were all very different yet very much the same. When the author switched to all the different parents' POV's I just didn't understand why it was necessary to know what they were thinking. Probably to explain things that would have been better explained in dialogue rather then all that annoying "telling".

Characters
Missy was a little too bossy but she was very happy and positive and I liked that. Claire was so sullen and angry through most the book that I just kept getting irritated and Genevieve was my favorite. She held strong even through all the things she learns and deals with. I won't discuss the parents. They all bothered me.

Would I recommend it?
For the story, yes, but I can't condone such horrible editing.
