And I'm Off!

So, I'm off to the family reunion this weekend, where awkward socializing and sick kids will abound. Don't I sound thrilled? Sigh. I plan on bringing my laptop and hope to keep up with your posts and will comment but whether I have the energy to write my own posts is doubtful. I haven't even been able to schedule posts because of preparation stress.

Onto reading, cause, um, this is sort of a book blog. I'll be listening to Shiver on my ipod whilst driving. I've never listened to an audiobook before and I thought this would be the perfect time to try it. We'll see how it goes. I'm also planning on bringing Middlemarch so I can continue my 50 pages a day goal. But whether that happens or not is yet to be seen. BTW, I'm halfway through Middlemarch as of last night!!!! Whoo hoo! I'm struggling so much with the political talk and the random musing of the author that are sporadically thrown in everywhere. But I WILL finish it!

Wish me luck. TTYL.

  2. Oh my...try to have a good time, and maybe take lots of vitamin C, lol.

Congrats on reaching the middle mark of Middlemarch (try saying that five times fast).

  3. Have fun and good luck with Middlemarch! It's the random musings that I love because Eliot and I seem to obsess about the same things. I feel like she and I are kindred spirits! The political stuff is kind of a drag though.

  5. Where do you find all those very appropriate pictures like the car?

Maybe you could hide out in the one bathroom to read your 50 pages of Middlemarch. Hee Hee.

  7. Adams family, thanks for waiting.

TheBookGirl, LOL, that is quite the tongue twister.

Shelley, Argh, I'm trying to enjoy it. I've laughed several times, it's just not my favorite classic.

    Jenni Elyse, Thanks, I'll try.

Techno Grandma, I steal them off the internet.

Dana, Thanks, ;) You're too kind.

  8. I do hope you are having fun. I keep thinking about you and your hotel escape! Love that, really I do. I read three pages of Middlemarch, so we can say I've officially started... again. I think I may read a page or two of Under the Dome, so I can say I've started that one too! :) Right now, I don't feel like reading anything though, so yeah... no fun.

Can't wait to hear how the reunion turns out for you all!

Have fun at the reunion! =D

About Middlemarch: although I read it only once, and so many years ago, the memory lingers. I kind of envy you now because you have the leisure to read it. =) And I must say that I love George Eliot's random musings. I don't think I would have loved the novel half as much without them.

  10. Suey, Argh! I'm just having a block against Middlemarch. I don't know what it is.

Enbrethiliel, Thanks. I liked her musings at first but it's like she wants us to keep an open mind about all the characters and not judge them. That's great advice for real life, but in a book I want to judge the characters and not like them if I feel so inclined, and I do NOT like Casaubon or Dorthea. Sorry.
