October Wrapup

It's time for another pointless boring wrapup post that you all could probably care less about. ;)
Because I co hosted and participated in a group read of Under the Dome I seriously didn't expect to read too many books this month, but with the help of the read-a-thon I managed more than I thought.

Under the Dome by Stephen King
A great spooky read for October. I love King's ability to create unique, memorable characters.

The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf
After all the dang hype I thought it would be better...not so much.

Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers
Oh, this book ticked me off!!! Review coming soon.

Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken
Sigh, I had such high hopes. It wasn't dreadful but it wasn't great either.

The Sweet, Terrible, Glorious Year I Truly, Completely Lost It by Lisa Shanahan
A hilarious book with some real depth to it.

Crossed (matched 2) by Ally Condie
One big circle of a book. Filler.

Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn
A religious bashing book in the guise of wordy fun. Grrrr, aggravating!

The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
A surprisingly great book! Be warned it was a bit risque.

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Well written, well loved...no complaints here.

So that was my October. My favorite were The Duff and The Sweet, Terrible, Glorious Year I Truly, Completely Lost It. Least favorites were Ella Minnow Pea and Some Girls Are.

  2. No! Wrap ups are NOT boring! Yes, you definitely got some reading done on top of UTD.

Note to self: I have to read The DUFF.

I quickly looked up your review for Crossed. What a pity. I was really looking forward to it. I think that's the problem with some series/trilogies nowadays. There is a good story, but it just gets dragged out and cliffhangers are thrown out like it's a weekly tv show. You expect me to wait months until the next book comes out?! Yeah, I am obviously still mad at the Ashes cliffhanger, which is totally unrelated to your post.

  3. Ang, Yes, the good ones were worthy of your time.

Selina, Yeah, I'm getting sick of series and filler books in said series. Plus those dang cliffhangers! It IS like a TV show.

  6. Cowboy mom, Yeah, but sometimes anything in excess tends to get boring once and awhile. ;)

Suey, I know! I just noticed that! Whoohoo!

  7. Busy, busy! Impressive variety, too; I like how you're reading all over the place genre-wise. I don't stray far outside the steampunk/urban fantasy/dystopia/paranormal box...sometimes I think about it, but then I just grab another book off the TBR and read happily away...
