Seen from the eyes of Tinker Bell is the classic tale of Peter Pan that takes on a whole new light as we learn more about Tiger Lily and Peter before Wendy came to Neverland.

What it has going for it
Well, I was absolutely ecstatic to read this one. I'd seen raving reviews and read the first sample chapters. Yep, I was all ready to thoroughly enjoy this one. I loved that it was narrated by Tinker Bell. I've always liked her and it was fun to see things from her perspective. Be warned, this is not the happy Disney version of Peter Pan...though there were a little too many similarities for my taste. This one was sad and dealt with some pretty serious subjects but it was beautifully written and it allows you to sort of slowly meander through the story.

What's lacking
Yeah, yeah, blame it on my high expectations but I really don't think that's what it was this time. My biggest problem with this one was it's mostly about Tiger Lily and I just didn't like her. Why would I? She was so closed off and cold. And why? Because she was bullied as a child? I just couldn't find any sympathy for her. Sorry. The "romance" between Peter and Tiger Lily wasn't much of a romance. Just because the author tells me they'er in love doesn't mean I believe it. I also thought there were far too many elements in the story that had no point...at least that I could see. Like, why was Phillip even in the story? What was the point of that? Did I miss something? I really hate reading books where I feel like I missed something. Peter Pan acted like a ten year old and he was supposed to be 16???  Oh, and I HATED the way everyone treated Tink! What the heck?! I get that that was the way that world treated fairies...I guess. But was there supposed to be some sort of symbolism with her treatment or were the characters just jerks? Maybe the author was trying to create something teens could relate to by having a character no one ever listens to. Cause every teen feels that way. *rolls eyes*

Favorite moment
Well, as much as I didn't get the relationship between Peter and Tiger Lily, I enjoyed when Peter spontaneously kissed her neck. It was unique enough to be romantic.

Yea or Nay?
I don't know! I'll let you decide. I wouldn't recommend it, but that's me.

  1. Aaaw! So sad to hear you didn't like it. Like, SUPER DUPER depressed. Because I really want to love this! Peter Pan rocks. Heehee he just kisses her neck?? O.o That's so unbelievably sweet and spontaneous and I think (??) enough to make me love this book. :P Lovely review, Jenny!

    1. It really was sweet. But that was about the only sweet thing in the book.

  2. I was hoping I'd like this one, but then I started reading people's reviews and realized it's not really the right book for me. I can see you feel the same way, so my decision is justified.

Thanks for the review and for revealing what wasn't working in the story.

  3. Interesting. I've heard a lot of rave reviews myself, but wasn't sure what I'd think of it. I'll have to check out the excerpt from a sample I got for my Nook.

  4. This was not encouraging. I wanted to read it so bad when I heard about it but then I kept seeing from everyone (people who loved and didn't love it) that it was super slow so that made me not want to read it as much and now... I'll probably pass. I have a problem with romances that are only romances because the author tells you. Romance needs to be shown!

    1. I know! I'm sorry. I wish I could say better things but it was pretty slow and just depressing.

  5. I haven't read this one, but I do hate it when the romance consists of one scene in which the reader is told that the couple is in love. That just won't cut it!

    1. Yeah, the romance just didn't work for me in this one...at all!

  6. Too bad this wasn't better! I really love the cover, and the concept is really intriguing. I don't like it when relationships aren't developed, either, so I probably won't check this one out.

  7. Hm, I've been wondering whether this one would be worth the read or not. But, since we usually disagree on books, that means I would like this one, right? Hm. Now I'm going to have to read it just to see how our opinions differ or gel (it could happen) :)

    1. LOL! Yes, we often disagree so I'd say give it a shot. In fact, I think anyone who wanted to read it still should. People really shouldn't trust my opinion. ;)

  8. I want to love this sooo much! Perhaps I shall wait and see if a copy happens my way, I'll then say Fate decided I should read it and avoid all blame :)

  10. I've only read the original Peter Pan and that was a few years ago, but isn't he supposed to be younger? Maybe I missed some books where it is explained how he gets older (I thought he couldn't grow up).
