OK, obviously I'm a bit behind on my wrap up posts but here you have it.
Honestly, an OK read but not very realistic or memorable
Ooookay. Lewis Carroll may have been on something when he wrote this.
Very engrossing. It was hard to deal with some of the stuff in it but overall a great story.
Very disappointing. I usually love Gregory's books but this one fell flat with completely unsympathetic characters.
Started out OK but the author should have just left this story to the professionals (Jane Austen). It's a retelling of Persuasion, in case you didn't know.
I had to re-read this one and restore my faith in the beautiful story and the awesomeness of Captain Wentworth.
Sadly, this one was a DNF for me. I really despised the main character. He wasn't doing all he was doing for something he believed in. It was all for what someone else, anyone else, believed in and then it just got all "hunger games on prozac" and I lost interest.
If you HAVE to do a love triangle do it this way! Jenny sure know's how to twist my emotions.
So there you have it favorites were Out of the Easy, To All The Boy's I've Loved Before and Persuasion of course. Least Favorites were Alice in Wonderland and obviously (since I didn't finish it) Red Rising.
A lot of reading there! You are picking up the pace. I must admit I have never been a Jane Austen fan. I am planning to read the full Tudor Court series by Gregory this year, I am a little more nervous now, I don't want there to be a poorly done book to end the series.

DeleteI've only read one Phillipa Gregory book and I was so annoyed at her writing I've sworn her off! Out of the Easy sounds good.

DeleteToo bad Red Rising wasn't for you. Oh well. Persuasion was a good read. I can see why it is people's favorite Austen.

DeleteNice to see you're reading again! Have to admit that I haven't read Persuasion for some reason, but know that I have a copy somewhere. Maybe I'll take a look and read it for my TBR challenge. Love your take on Alice In Wonderland! I haven't read the book, but always think this whenever one of the movie adaptations comes on!

DeleteI really liked OUT OF THE EASY. It's just so atmospheric and compelling. Heart-wrenching, too. Great book in general. Wonder when a new one will come out from this author??
