While I've been gone

I've been missing for the past two years. It's not because I don't like blogging or reading, though. As you all may remember. I met a hot guy, went on vacation, got married started a business with my husband and now...Now I've bought a house. We've been remodeling like crazy and while we still have things left to do and projects left to finish (mainly the yard now), the big project, the basement, is done!!!! Wahoo! You have no idea how much I hated working on it. And for the record, we weren't picking out paint and cabinets and hiring big muscley men to come do all the work. WE did all the work and it sucked. Sigh! I'm glad that's over. Anywho, here's some before and after pictures. In case you're interested.

We had to completely gut one of the bathrooms due to water damage.

Much better.  Love my lights.

The downstairs bathroom

Look at the disgusting dated tub, oh and the walls

Voila! You Like?

The scary old windows

OK so you can't see the new windows but still.

Notice the hole on the wall where the dryer plugs in and the vent going out a window

Look, a dryer vent in the wall.

The room we turned into a kitchen

Ta da! What do you think?

So, there a you have it. What do you think?

  1. You guys did so much! I bet it was too much work, but it certainly paid off. Everything is gorgeous! I especially like the floor where I can see it, and the bathroom is amazing.
I wish you guys many, many happy years in your wonderful new house.

  2. I love renovations. How much HGTV did you watch in preparation/for inspiration while you were working?

  4. It looks awesome! You guys did a great job. I hope you can find some tenants soon. I don't know anyone. Otherwise, I'd tell people if I did.

  6. Very impressive! Painting is about the extent of my DIY skills, as I'm a hopeless klutz. Love the after pictures! You guys did a great job, so should be very proud of yourselves! Congratulations!

    1. I hate painting. That was probably the worst part for me.

  10. +JMJ+

The rooms look fantastic! And it really is all about the lights, isn't it? =D

My family and I just moved as well, and I'm discovering a DIY side to my personality that I hadn't known was there! Unfortunately, everyone else seems to be what's called a DIFM (Do It For Me) type. =P And since my brother isn't willing to help me to build the loft that I'd like for my tiny new bedroom, I've had no choice but to hire a contractor. We're spending a lot of money--more than I personally think is sensible =(--but since the majority of us are anti-DIY, what can I do?

You did some really hard work, there, but I'm sure that in the future you'll be looking at your kitchen and other rooms with more pride than other homeowners! =)

    1. Yeah, hiring out is so expensive. There were certain things we had to hire out and ouch! The poor wallet felt that. I love light and think it adds so much to a room.

  13. Wow that is amazing! I don't think I could accomplish that haha. It's a shame, because there are things I'd like to change here, but I'm renting so womp womp. I'm so glad to hear things are going well for you!!

  14. Impressive! I am so not a DIYer, but fortunately the Hubs can do simple things. This is probably beyond us, but I'm super impressed by what you've done!

  16. I'm so impressed! If we buy a house that needs updating, I'm call you and Guy. The dryer venting out the window gave me a good laugh.
