In My Thoughts This Fine Day #11

It's been a while since I did one of these posts. Since I'm still working my way through Winter (very good but long!) I don't have any book reviews to post. So hey, how about some random thoughts. Enjoy!

1. Book Shelves
So most of us book lovers just love organizing and reorganizing our book shelves. I know I do but lately I've been trying to decide something a little different. See, I was always taught that books are to be lined up with the front of the shelf. So that's how I do it. But I've noticed that others push their books to the back of the shelf and put little knick knacks in front of them. I think it's actually very cute and heaven knows I need more room for my knick knacks but...the dusting. Sigh! What to do? What to do? What do you do and like best?

2. This video explains how I feel about the cold and snow to a T.

I actually like winter better than summer but I'm so tired of being cold!

3.I'm SOOOO excited about my reading plans this year. Now before you ask what I'm going to read let me just cut you off and say, I don't know yet. I do know that I'm doing all adult books for the month of February and can't wait to go into my library and pick out what I'll be reading. And then...! I plan on getting some series finally read. Usually I read a book in a series and then read something else but not this year. This year I plan on finishing some series I'm in the middle of and starting AND finishing some others. Don't ask but this makes me so happy and excited! You can follow me on Instagram if you'd like. I'll be posting pics of my monthly TBR books each month!

  1. I envy you setting out to finish up some series! I can think of a few series I'd love to just tackle all in one go.

  2. 1. I do the knick knack thing, but the dusting thing is a pain in the rear. Especially since my housekeeping skills are... lacking.

    2. I love the winter, so I'm not complaining... even though it means I am almost 100% likely to have to stay overnight at my job tomorrow (I do private home health care and the client I work for has 24/7 care). But that just means I'll have even more time to read.

    3. I've read several books this year from my TBR piles, and it's kind of exciting! It makes me happy to finally read them, but it also helps that they've been good reads, so I was justified in keeping them sooooooo long. :)

I can't wait to see what books you get for February!

    1. I just can't get over the dusting. I like winter too I just get tired of it after awhile. Yay for reading books off the TBR stack!

  3. By books are usually in the middle of the shelf so they're easy enough to see and grab but with a little room for the odd knick-knack.

Your reading plan sounds like my reading plan! A little bit of structure with lots of room for inspiration.

    And yeah, winter....

    1. Thanks. I'm excited for my plan this year for that very reason.

  4. I'm one of those people who pushes books right to the back of the shelf but I don't put knick knacks in front because as you say I'm too lazy to dust around them! I really should but it just doesn't happen!

Yay for finishing off series. I should make a similar goal because I don't think I've read a whole series in year. My first one should be the obernewtyn series because I've waited so long for it!

    1. I know! I still haven't finished that series. Though in my defense, I'm not sure the last one is available in the US.

  5. So, I always pushed my books back until I met Corey. He then told me they should be at the front so they're even. My OCD mind really took hold of that so now I put them at the front. I like the idea of pushing them back and having knick knacks, but I like the idea of them being lined up and even better. That's just me, though.

    1. Yep! That's what I was taught. That way they all line up.

  6. I do both with my books. And I can't wait to see what you end up reading too!

    1. You do? I'll have to look at your bookshelves more carefully next time I'm there.

  7. I used to have a lot of series books to finish, but I guess the last couple of years of targeting them has actually worked in getting them finished off. I still have a few left, though, and I'm not even picking up new series. Most of the time when I start a new series I don't even plan to read beyond Book 1 once I finish it.

  8. I always push my books back so that I have room for knick knacks. It gives my shelves variety. The dust, though, yeah, it's a problem. I usually make my kids do it.

I really need to read WINTER pronto. I keep putting it off because dang, that book is huge. Still, Lunar Chronicles! Yay. Glad it's good.

    1. Ah, if only I had some slav....er kids of my own.

    2. Maybe you could train your cat to do it?? A fluffy tail would make a great dust rag :)

  9. I prefer winter to summer too but I am also soooo tired of being cold. Ughh it's awful! Especially on the way to work in the mornings. As for bookshelves, I'm personally one of the people who pushes the books back and then puts little ornaments in the front. Everything definitely does get dustier, but I think it's worth it! (And by worth it, I mean pretend the dust isn't there.)

    1. Lol! Right. A little pretending never hurt anything.

  10. 1. I've never done the knick knack thing, it looks cute, but as someone who needs to dust (allergies) there is just no way that's happening.

    2. WINTER CAN DIE. I hate winter. Especially after the foot of snow and be cooped up in my house for 4 days because I couldn't get my car out the driveway.

    3. Yay for reading plans! My goal for this year is to cut my TBR down by 50% through reading or weeding if I'm no longer interested. We'll see!

    1. Yeah I have to dust too. Winter snow is no fun! Pretty but annoying. Wow good luck with making 50% that's crazy.

  12. I've always put my books in the back of my shelves, except where I've had to double stack. I don't have a lot of knick knacks in front of them though, I mainly have more stacks of books that won't fit normal because I'm refusing to double stack nowadays. (I'm just weird, I want to see all my books! Not have to pull one out to see what's behind it.)

Also, that video perfectly describes my feelings on snow! :D

    1. Yeah, I could never double stack. I need to be able to see all my books! Stupid snow!
