First sentence I couldn't think.

Synopsis
Digger is a thief and a spy, it's how she survives in a kingdom in turmoil. While on the run from the Greenmen, guards with a vicious streak, she hides among some nobles and playing a ladies maid for a girl on the brink of womanhood. Hoping to just stay out of trouble and stay hidden is all Digger cares about but trying to keep out of political intrigue is harder than she thought it would be.

What it has going for it
The first part of this book throws you straight into this whole new world and it's a bit confusing but as soon as you get into it, and believe me, you will, it becomes amazing! The twisting plot just keeps getting more and more twisted with more and more intrigue that blew my mind. I really liked Digger. She was spunky and determined to stay alive and under the radar, but as she becomes more involved and concerned with the people around her, she grows as a person and uses her skills to help everyone, not just herself. Watching her juggle everything that she had to was a blast. She had me holding my breath, laughing out loud, and growling in frustration. I'm much more of a plot girl and this one did not disappoint in that department but it also had an awesome MC. I couldn't ask for anything more.

What's lacking
The only two things that bothered me were there was no map ( I hate that!)  and things could often get a little repetitive. We don't need to hear Digger explain how much she hates being so involved in everything over and over again! Two things that didn't bother me but might bother others is there was no romance and it might be a little too political for some people.

Favorite moment
I can't tell without giving something away but I loved any moments between Digger and a certain other character. ;)

Yea or Nay
Yea verily! Read and enjoy this YA fantasy done right.

  1. This looks so fun. I'm intrigued by which character made the scenes interesting if there was no romance... :)

    1. I'm praying said character might be a romantic interest in the future but, alas, I'm not sure that's going to happen.

  3. K, they are on hold at the library. I wanted to get them on my phone but then it bugged me that I wouldn't own the book so that if Kait wanted to read it as she gets older she could. To ebook or not to ebook....ah just go to the library. Done.

    1. I hate that about ebooks. It doesn't feel like you actually own it! I hope you like it, I think you will.

  6. What is not to love about an MC named Digger? I am totally intrigued. I'm a little weary of YA romance, so the fact that there is none is a plus for me. :) Great review!

  8. I can do without the romance but too much political intrigue makes my head spin. Still, it sounds like a very interesting book and Digger sounds like the kinda girl I could enjoy reading about.

  9. Great review! And, say what? No map, seriously!! I think they should have done a Lord of the Ring/The Goose Girl kinds map, it would have been awesome! But, nonetheless, this seems like a great read, so I'm deff gonna pick it up soon. Digger also sounds so kick-ass, I think I'm gonna like her for sure. <3 Great review as always!!

  12. You always read books I never hear about, and they end up intriguing me. I'm going to have to bookmark this one. Very nice review, and I like books with politics in them. And, even no romance is fine with me, too. I'm not one of those readers who thinks romance is the most important thing in life, lol.

    1. Oh thank goodness! I rarely think romance needs to be in a book. I'm glad I'm not alone!

  13. I love maps! That was something that irritated me about The Hunger Games, I needed to know where the districts were.

Great review! The synopsis didn't appeal to me all that much, but your review definitely did. I love books that are plot driven and have a lot of twists and turns :)
