The first month of 2016 has come and gone. I had a pretty good start to the year. Here's what I read so far.
Roomies by Sara Zarr and Tara Altebrando
Fun contemporary NA book,
The Radleys by Matt Haig
Slow unconnected start but whirlwind ending.
The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
Too rambling and disconnected for my taste. Not sure why it one an award.
Winter by Marissa Meyer
The exciting albeit long ending of the Lunar Chronicles.
Smile by Raina Telgemeier
Graphic novels aren't my favorite but this one was OK.
Favorites of the month were Winter and Roomies. The Radleys ending was very good but that slow start makes it NOT a favorite. Least favorite was The Year of Magical Thinking.
Februaries plans...I already talked about my Adult Literature month on Monday. If you missed it you can check it out.
Happy Reading!
Five books in Jan. is a pretty good start to the year, I'd say. My pace has slowed somewhat but I'm hoping to get some good reading in in the coming months.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm proud I managed 5 with the crazy month I had.
DeleteI need to get to WINTER soon. My daughter loaned our copy to a friend, though, and we haven't gotten it back. Time to shake down a book-stealing teenager ...
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I hope you get it back.
DeleteYou had an awesome month! Way to go! I'm glad you liked Winter. It makes me excited to read the rest of the series.
ReplyDeleteYou have to read the whole series first! ;)
DeleteDoing great for the start of the year! Looking forward to your thoughts on the adult novels!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYou had a great start to the year, and I hope this month is affording you some time to snuggle up and read!
ReplyDeleteSo far, despite a ton going on I'm still reading like crazy.
DeleteI wish I could read five books in one month! I don't think I could do that even before I was writing.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with this month's adult reading. It's good to read some literature meant for your actual age demographic, every now and then. ;)
Yeah, it is.
DeleteWnter is now officially on my nightstand... which I hope it means it will be read soon!
ReplyDeleteYay! It's good. You'll love it.
DeleteI liked The Radleys but I'd have to say it's my least favorite Matt Haig book. Still, I enjoyed it. I *hated* The Year of Magical Thinking and was impressed by her writing at the same time. But, man, I just absolutely cannot think of that book without wanting to throw something and I don't even know why. I'm behind on the Lunar Chronicles series. Just finally got the third book, recently (can't recall the title). Great month, Jenny!
ReplyDeleteReally? Then I may have to try another Matt Haig book. I wish you could have been at our book club where we discussed TYOMT. You'll finish the Lunar series eventually.
DeleteIt was wondering if I could use this write-up on my other website, I will link it back to your website though.Great Thanks.
