Title Shadow Kiss (vampire academy #3)
By Richelle Mead
Genre YA Supernatural/Paranormal
Pages 443
First Sentence His fingertips slid along my back, applying hardly any pressure, yet sending shock waves over my flesh.
Synopsis
Rose is back. With things growing trickier and trickier with Dimitri and Lissa life is never dull for Rose but when she starts seeing ghosts she's about to learn what being shadow kissed really means.
What it has going for it
Oh my, things are surely getting tricky now. This one was on the longer side but I found myself, once again, totally immersed in the story. I can't really put my finger on why I like these books so much. They're not amazingly written or anything. They are, however, well thought out story lines with one big story line weaving through all the books that is carefully put together. I like that immensely. I like that the world Mead creates makes sense. There's no questions about it or things that just don't make sense. (I'm looking at you Wither) Anywho, I also just like the characters. They are each fleshed out and individual. K, I'm even starting to bore myself. I want to scream and rant about this ending of this one. The cliffhanger. The drama. The soul wrenching horror of it all but maybe, just maybe, you haven't read this series yet and I don't want to give it away. So I'm really trying to just stay neutral. Sigh!
What's lacking
I'm sadly, oh so sadly, starting to lose interest in Adrian. I liked him so much in Frost Bite but, somehow, he lost his snarkiness. I wanted more from him. He seems like a pathetic drunk in this one. Also, through no fault of the author, but instead from a ridiculously annoying coworker, the shocking ending of this one was given away before I got to it. Not that that's something "lacking" but it certainly took away from the book a little.
Favorite Moment
I liked the ending. I liked Rose's hard decision. Watching her make it was refreshing.
Yea or Nay?
Yes. Read this series for the entertainment factor and hopefully, I haven't given away the ending like that damnable coworker.

Review: Frostbite (Vampire Academy 2)
Title Frostbite (Vampire Academy 2)
By Richelle Mead
Genre YA paranormal/supernatural
Pages 327
Recommended by Natalie
First sentence I didn't think my day could get any worse until my best friend told me she might be going crazy.
Synopsis
Rose and company are back. With new characters and higher risks the adventure continues.
What it has going for it
I'm going to be completely honest with you...I read this book way back in March and have forgotten a good deal of it. :( I have not, however, forgotten that I liked it. Liked it even better than the first one. With the introduction of Adrian...Sigh! I'd been warned about his sexiness but not about his mystery. I think the mystery was better then how sexy he was...or added to it, anyway. The story was more exciting too. I liked that it jumped right into the action this time. I think what really gets me about these books is that they always have a crazy fun plot, (I'm a plot girl) AND awesome characters. I can't wait to read the rest of the series...I better hurry before I forget what's going on, huh?
What's lacking
Honestly I don't remember anything bugging me. I will admit that they're rather silly books with no real depth in them...so far, anyway, but I like them all the same.
Favorite moment
The whole scene in the pool was pretty fun.
Yea or Nay?
Yep, read and enjoy.

Vampire Preferences
I worry about myself, I really do. For 16 years, give or take, I've been watching TV shows/movies with vampires in them. I think, unless we TRIED to avoid them, we all have. But as I was watching old episodes of the BBC's Being Human and admiring the vampire special effects I started to think of all the vampire effects I've seen and wondering which one I preferred the best. I've chosen and now you all get to tell me your preference. I'm just curious and reaching for blog post ideas. So scroll on down and tell me what you think.
First we have my favorite. The simple black eyed vampire.
The unusually blue eyed vampire.
Then we get into more than just eyes and teeth.
I know, there's a million more ways it's been done but these are a good starting point. Anywho, weigh in. What's your favorite vamped out look? Feel free to mentions other's I've not.

Don't Let Their Smiles Fool You
Remember when I confessed that I thought this soccer player was a vampire?
Well, it looks like he's turning the whole team. Look.
Look at those freaky eyes! Don't let their smiles fool you, if they get you alone they might just nibble on you...wait, wouldn't that be a good thing? ;)

If Soccer Players Were Vampires
Don't ask, I just though I'd share some more of those thoughts that probably would be better left unsaid.
This is Arbeloa...
...and of all the soccer players out there I've always thought he could pass as a vampire. Blame it on all the vampire books I've read but for some reason I see him and I think: vampire.
I like to blame it on his pale skin and those dark circles under his eyes but, truthfully, I think his malicious style of play is what really scares me.
Arbeloa is the one in white...just in case you didn't recognize those vampire qualities. The "incident" takes place 24 seconds in to about 28 seconds.
Oh sure, he looks innocent enough but he totally meant to do that. Pretty freaky huh? I love him but I've seen him pull this kind of stuff too many times to ever want to go up against him in a game.
However, he could nibble on me anytime. ;)
