Mini Movie Reviews #2

So, I've seen quite a few movies lately and so I thought I'd share my thoughts. Cause I know you just love my thoughts. ;)

I was so shocked that people were camping out in my city to see this one. Good heavens It doesn't even have any of the good Marvel superheroes! Ahem, well if you haven't already closed this window and pulled up a word document to start making a list of ways to kill me, read on. I enjoyed this one well enough but I was bored through most of it. It took forever to set up the story and...hello! I went to see a superhero movie with very little storyline and lots of cool fighting. It took far too long to get to the fighting. Just sayin'. I did LOVE the ending after the credits...at the restaurant. Hee hee.

Much better than the second. Am I right?! The story was good the acting was superb. Jame Brolin rocked a younger Agent K. My favorite line was when Tommy Lee Jones asks Will Smith if he knows what the biggest threat to the world is and Will Smith says, "sugar." Oh, I heehawed over that one. Yes, yes, I do believe sugar is mankind's biggest threat.

And why, you ask, do I have a picture of Stefano rather than a movie poster of Madagascar 3? Because he was so dang CUTE! I have never wanted to squish a cartoon character before. Not even Puss in Boots, and he's pretty dang cute. Oh my gosh! I have a weakness for sea lions but Stefano pushed me over the edge. With his cute little Italian accent and his adorably expressive face I just can't help my self. Oh, uh, how did I feel about the movie? I liked it. I still like the first one best but this one was fun.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Everyone was so excited for it and so was I, but after it came out and a few reviews started popping up saying it was horrible, I started to worry. Still, as we all know, I'm not one to follow the crowd's opinion, so I watched it anyway. This movie was dark. That didn't surprise me. I knew it was going to be darker. Heck, I even thought it's slogan should have been, "this isn't your mother's Snow White!" I didn't mind the "darkness". It was supposed to be scary and action packed and it was! Then there was the whole romance thing, and this, I think, is what bothered people. I went into it thinking I was going to like the Huntsman and, well, I ended up liking William, the "prince" way better! So that had me freaking out the whole movie. I say, ignore those naysayers and go see this one. I highly recommend it. Just don't go for the romance. Go for the adventure. The visual effects/cinematography was beautiful, btw. Loved it!

And now for a cute video of Stefano because I just can't resist.

  1. I loved that clip from Madagascar. Those movies always make me laugh. Maybe I'll have to get it from the redbox.
And I'm happy Men in Black 3 was good! I didn't love the second one so I was really surprised they made a third. Will Smith is starting to look a little old! I guess the 90's were 20 years ago though...

    1. LOL! I was thinking he still looked so young. Weird.

  2. I was pretty much "meh" about The Avengers too. I mean, I liked it, it's been awhile since I've seen a fun superhero movie, but I probably won't see it again until DVD. I've heard a lot of good things about MIB 3. I was reluctant to see it, since the second one wasn't that spectacular, but now I'm really wanting to see it. And Snow White--you're right, so many people were negative about it, and I think it's mostly because of Kristen Stewart. She wasn't as bad as I expected. The story was pretty cool the way it all turned out in the end. For some reason, I still haven't seen the 2nd Madagascar. Jessica Fail, especially because of ring tailed lemurs!! :P

    1. Uh, yeah, if you like lemurs I can't believe you haven't even seen the second one. Though, it wasn't that great. I prefer the first and third.

Kristen Stewart usually bugs me but she was OK in SWATH. She just acts the same in everything. It's annoying.

  3. Wow! I am way out of it. I haven't seen any of those movies or even the #2's sigh, But we do have a redbox now so hey, Maybe I'll rent one.

    1. Sheesh! Even Mike saw MIB3 and Madagascar 3. Tsk tsk.

What's this?! Loa got a Redbox?! Holy crap! Miracles do happen! ;)

  4. Great post! I totally agree with you on the Avengers. I was bored about 2/3 of the way through. Very disappointing, esp since Joss Whedon directed it. :)

MIB3 is worth seeing for Josh Brolin alone. I have been a fan of Brolin since the Goonies!!

I am glad to hear Snow White was good. I totally want to see that.

  5. thanks for the mini reviews. Sorry you didn't like The Avengers. I really loved that one, but I don't mind superhero films that build up characters moreso than action. LOVED MIB 3 as well though, and I really want to see Madagascar 3. It looks pretty fun. I think I've only actually seen the first though. haha

I'm not sure about Snow White. My sister loved it, but I was never fully interested.

    1. i'm usually about character build up but I just wanted it to get to the action.

You can just skip the second Madagascar. It wasn't that great.

  6. I'm glad you enjoyed MIB3. So far, it's my favorite that I've seen this year! Loved it! Didn't you love J's neuralizer explanations, especially the one with the cops? I laughed so hard!

Sorry you were bored in Avengers. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't my favorite. Who are your favorite superheroes since you don't like these guys very much? And, the restaurant scene after the credits was awesome!

I didn't think SWATH was awful either. I just thought Kristen Stewart was awful. What did you think of her? I actually really liked William too, but I liked the huntsman better, probably because it's Chris Hemsworth, lol.

    1. I loved J's neuralizer explanations. So funny.

About the super heroes. Of Marvel I like Spiderman, The Punisher and the X-men.

Kristen Stewart did what she always does, and that is, act exactly the same. She just needs to act different and I might not dislike her so much. ;)

  7. I haven't seen any of these, but I need to see MIB3 and I'm glad to hear that you didn't hate Snow White, because I was soooo disappointed with the bad reviews.

    1. Yeah, just go see Snow White for the action NOT the romance and I think you'll like it.

  8. I loved the Avengers! But don't worry...I won't kill you lol! I also had mixed feelings about Snow White. While I LOVE Chris Hemsworth I was kind of put off by the fact that it was hinted him and Snow White are in love with each other. While I appreciated the fact that they tried to do something a bit different with the story, I liked the fact that the huntsman was potrayed as having had this perfect love with his wife. But at the same time....because I love Chris so much....I wanted him to be the romantic hero! Does that make sense? I'm very conflicted! Also, I love your Snow White tagline!

    1. LOL! I totally understand. I was all conflicted too! The fact that he'd had a wife whom he obviously loved before he even met Snow White, messed up any hope that there would be any romance between them. And then they introduced William and I was all smitten with him...but I like the Huntsman too and....yeah. I get the conflict.

    2. Oh, and thanks for enjoying my Snow White tagline. I thought it was funny.

  9. I am a complete super hero action movie nut but I haven't seen The Avengers. Mostly because besides Iron Man, everyone else is super lame. Oh and I am not the biggest fan of Ms Johansson. I've been excited to see Snow White and The Huntsman but again I have issues with Ms Stewart. I am already rooting for the evil Queens to win. I'm not surprised you liked the underdog in this one. Even if he's a prince!

    1. Iron man seems to be the most popular and I'm pretty sure we can thank Robert Downey Jr for that. A good actor can make a movie...and break it.

  10. I have to watch the Avengers and MIB3. I never thought they would make a movie with Black Widow in it, who is one of my favourite comic book characters.

I've never watched Madagascar (any of the three). Maybe I should; I like cute characters. I watched the Shrek movies just because Puss in Boots was in them.

I don't know about Snow White though. I don't like the story too much but if there is lots of action and not too much romance maybe I'll go see it.

    1. Dang! I don't even know who Black Widow is! I wish I had more of her background story.

Snow White is way more adventurous than romantic.

  11. Please don't kill me or anything but... I liked Avengers. I was a little confused because it's possible that I've never read any comic books in my life and never seen any comic book movies other than a couple of Batman ones. I actually only went because Kate told me there were hot guys in it, otherwise I never would have went.

I appreciate your thoughts on the Snow White movie. I've heard a lot of bad stuff so I'm glad that you said it's worth going to see. I would have gone anyway, but it's good to know at least one person that said it was worth it.

    1. Going to see a movie because it has hot guys in it is perfectly acceptable. ;) Snow White was worth it. Just go for the adventure not the romance.

  12. Sigh. Haven't seen a movie in the theater since...HP 8? I really need to get out.

  13. Wow, you've been having a lot more fun than I have! I need to go see some movies.

I loved The Avengers, but it started slower than I expected. Still loved it, though. I practically had to hold the guys down to get them to stay long enough for that crazy restaurant scene.
