Review: The Power Of Six

Title The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies 2)
By Pittacus Lore
For Fun
Source I own it

First Sentence
My name is Marina, as of the sea, but I wasn't called that until much later.

Synopsis
John (#Four), Sam and Six are on the run. Not only from the Mogadorians, but from the law as well. After the incident in Ohio, the three fugitives are considered dangerous terrorists. Meanwhile we get to meet Marina (#Seven). She's been living in a convent in Spain and with her Legacies developing and a weird man hanging around the convent her life is about to get a lot more complicated.

General thoughts
Oh man! What does it say about my intelligence that I love these, horribly written, un-thought out sad excuse for a book, books?! There is so many convenient things that are never truly explained that happen for the sake of the plot and I just eat it up. Oh sure, I raised an unimpressed eyebrow at several plot holes but all in all these are just fun crazy books. This one has much more action and craziness going on and as soon as it really got going I was flipping pages so fast I couldn't see those plot holes anymore. One of the things that bothered me was how faceless the Mogadorians are. Yeah, we get it they're big bad guys, but they're killed off like baddies in a video game. I have a hard time truly fearing or even caring about these guys that supposedly are so evil they "easily" took over a planet. I'm glad that we got a glimpse of a baddie leader at the end it gives me hope that I might actually be scared of the "bad guys" and have more reason to root for the Garde. And that cliffhanger ending! Seriously? Ahhhh!

Characters
John(#Four): Same old # Four. Typical wandering eyes guy. ;)
Sam: Oh, Sam! I'm freaking out on your behalf!
Six: What's not to like about a kick ass heroine with a heart of gold?
Marina(#Seven): This will be very interesting. She's not much of a fighter and none of her Legacies seem to be pushing her to be one.
Adelina: Well, at least she came around in the end.
Ella: Don't ask me how I didn't see that one coming. Interesting plot twist.
Crayton: Another interesting twist. I hope he helps the Guarde.
Sarah: That Beotch! Hmph!

Would I recommend it?
Yep, all the bad writing and ridiculous plot holes aside, I would.

  1. I'm so with you Jenny! I consider myself way too intelligent to enjoy this type of garbage but there is just something about these books... I am happy you enjoyed it because I still need to read this one. I'm curious about those plot twists that you mentioned...

  2. Selina, Oh good, I'm not alone in my love of these bad books. I was starting to question my thoughts about this one at the beginning but then it just takes off.

  3. I'm not above reading anything but I got through about 5 lines of the first book and had to put it down :( It just didn't appeal to me. Strangely though, I quite liked the film which is mostly due to Six being pretty kick ass.

  4. Lan, LOL, I saw the movie and had a startling revelation. They had Timothy Olyphant in there for the older ladies and Alex Pettyfer for the younger girls...I'm an older girl. :(

  5. The thing that gets me about this series is that they're ghostwritten. I know that a lot of books are ghostwritten, but I can't wrap my head around it.

I read I Am Number Four and found it okay, although that ending confused the heck out of me. I think I'll get this one from the library, although I will read it. I love your review. :)

  6. Kaye, Hmmm, if the ending of I Am Number Four confused you and if it was the fighting...you might not like this one. There was tons more crazy fighting in this one.

  7. Jenny, I'm an older girl too :) Alex and Timothy don't interest me at all, I just love action movies!! Oh to be young again though.....

  8. I just watched the movie for the first time last night and loved it!!! I'm thinking about adding this series to my long list of to-read books just because of that. I really really hope they turn this book into a movie as well though!
