First time for everything

So I've been blogging for just over three months and I'm having my very first blogging slump! How excitingly dull. Usually, if I have no fun ideas for my blog or reviews, I just do a meme but I get to bored of reading them sometimes and so writing them is very boring too.

Anywho, I thought I'd just do a random post again with a few thoughts I've been having.

First off, I was very depressed to hear that Borders is officially going out of business. My Borders made the first cut of closing stores and now that it will be closing too I feel horribly depressed! I HATE Barnes and Noble! They charge full price for everything! You have to pay just to get there 10% off membership and they NEVER offer coupons. Plus I hate buying stuff on line. I like to actually go to the bookstore, smell the inky, papery, coffee smell, and wander amongst the shelves until I find the book I want. Buying online just isn't the same! Good bye, dear Borders, you'll be sorely missed!

Am I alone in this? I always read a synopsis to a book and immediately imagine how it will be. I make up the rest of the story in my head, fill in the holes with my own ideas and eagerly wait to get my hands on the actual  book. Then when I do get the book and read it I always find that it never was what I expected. It's either better and my silly imaginings are forgotten in the beauty of its reality or it's not. I hate when the latter happens. I always end up thinking, "I could have done better than that!"  Either way it ALWAYS happens. And I'm not talking about high expectations here. I mean reading the synopsis and imagining what I'd do with that outline.

Well I've leave you be for now. Have a great week and forgive my slump. I'll just have to let it run it's course.

  3. Yeah, I'm pretty regularly slumpy, but I happen to have a million old reviews I haven't posted, so sometimes I just go and post one every day.

And I am SO upset about Borders too. They were the only bookstore I liked to shop at. Though I'm pretty ok with Amazon too.

  4. Jenny, I think you are experiencing let down from planning the reunion. You were so busy and worried about it and it went SOOOO well and now you are relaxed with nothing to do. I read another Louis L'Amour that I've read before and liked. I'm reading, don't have to think about it, and can just relax. ;) That's why I reread favorites. I don't have to think at all but I am doing something. Then blog a really old one for us. Love ya'.

  5. I, too, am massively depressed about Borders closing. I was at book club this afternoon and all the gals expressed their sadness over this issue. However, one gal admits that she reads nearly everything on her Kindle and another, me, hardly every buys books, I just use library books. So even though we are depressed we have contributed to the demise of Borders by not buying more books there. I'm feeling weepy!

  6. Do you have a Books A Million around your area? that's where I usually go. The one here has a coffee shop, the people are nice, they have sales all the time, and they are cheaper than B&N.

  7. I know how you're feeling! I wish I could be as depressed about Borders closing as a lot of other people are, but I can't... the closest one to me is an hour away. In fact, the only one that's closest is the Barnes & Noble that's 30 minutes away (luckily only 5 minutes away from where I work). I buy most books online, even though I love to see and feel books in person too. ^_^ Sometimes I just browse around there for an hour, just because I love book stores. Oh, and sometimes I'll do the same with a book synopsis myself. Hang in there! Sometimes letting slumps run their course is what you need to do.

  8. I'm pretty bummed, myself. Although I have both near me, I usually ended up spending more at Borders due to their coupons. I'll be sure to give them tons of money in their upcoming sale. :/

I was pretty slumpy myself near the end of June into July but I think I'm picking up steam again. Sometimes life is just so busy that it's hard to catch up and keep momentum!

  9. I hadn't heard about Borders yet. That IS sad, dang it. And about synopsises (ha, is that a word?)... I just don't really even read them any more. So... is THAT weird? :)

Good luck with the slump. I hate them, but they get over.

  10. Dana, Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Jenni Elyse, I know, it's horrible!

Melissa, I'm so freakishly organized I'm all caught up on reviews. :( I wish I had some to post.

Techno Grandma, Great minds think alike, I've been thinking it's the let down too. Love ya too.

Anne, Don't feel too bad. I spend over 200 dollars a month there and it's still going out of business.

Samantha, I'll have to see but I don't think so. All we have is Borders and Barnes and Nobel.

Jessica, I'd have a hard time caring too, if Borders was THAT far away, thanks for the support.

Kaye, Yes, life always seems to get in the way of everything. I'll be spending lots of money at the sales too.

Suey, I know, we'll have to go down and spend lots of money on the sales. It is weird that you don't read the synopses. How do you know if you want to read something?

  11. Don't stress about the slump...you'll get motivated again soon, and if not, no worries, this is supposed to be fun after all :)

I liked Borders too, much different feel than B & N. There's always used bookshops..

  12. TheBookGirl, I'm still too sad for words about Borders. The used bookstore here has a fun selection but their prices are dreadful. I might as well order online.

  14. I hear you about the slumps. I'm kind of in one now, too. This whole book blogging thing is fun, but some days I don't really feel like writing about anything! :)

I don't really have strong feelings about Borders. Although I am going to check out their sales today and see if the prices are good. Either way it's a good excuse to visit the Riverwoods....

  15. Roxy, So heartbreaking!

Kathy, Yeah, I went down there. I wasn't impressed with the sales yet. But it was packed! Did you go? I wonder if we stumbled across each other and didn't even know. :(
