August Wrapup 2012

Well, August was Utah Book Month and I had a blast following everything. The party was a blast and I'm glad I could commit to some Utah author books. Unfortunately I was only able to read 4, yes 4 books. :( Ah well, here they are.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
Boring, mind numbing dribble.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Good story but I expected better writing for a NYT bestseller.

How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr
Sweet story but the ending was awfully tidy.

Seers by Heather Frost
Holy detailed details, Batman! Where's the story?!

Yep, that's it. That's all I managed to read this month. Sigh! My favorite was How To Save a Life. Least favorite was Ender's Game.  Maybe next month will go better...doubt it, though.

  1. Sorry to hear that Ender's Game was so boring, as everyone keeps telling me I should read it. And I've heard that about Seers in other reviews....too bad, as it sounds like a great book otherwise! Hope next month is better for you!

    1. Most people like Ender's Game so don't take my word for it.

  2. That's a bummer you didn't really seem to LOVE anything this past month. I hope September is better! :)

  4. Four books is still pretty good considering you are so busy now! That's still a book a week! It's too bad you didn't love any of them though! Hopefully September will be better :)

  5. Doubt it on the amount of books? Or doubt it on if you like them better or not?! :) It hope goes better than you think it will... for both ways!

  7. Four books in a month isn't so bad. I know people that haven't read four books in the whole year. It's too bad you didn't love any of them. Maybe this month the books will be better.

    1. This month will be better for sure. I shouldn't complain about only reading four books. I just miss being able to read so much more.

  8. I'm lucky if I get a book a week read. :( Such is the life of being employed!

    1. Yes, being employed in no fun for reading, is it? Sigh!

  9. It's hard when all you spend all that time reading and you didn't enjoy the books. I often feel like I get in a reading slump and it's hard to find my way out of it. What I do then is reread a book I loved just to restart things.

    1. Yeah, especially when time to read is so hard to come by. :( I should re-read an old favorite.

  11. Four books sounds good to me! It's too bad you didn't have any books you really loved. I wanted everything I read for Utah Books Month to be spectacular, because who wants to hear "we have great books in Utah! This just isn't one of them" :) And I found some good ones and some not as good.
Anyway, hopefully September will bring lots of fun books.

    1. Yeah, I wanted to be able to love and rave about each one. Oh well. I know there's more out there that I do love.
