Sunday Salon

I've decided to revamp the Sunday Salon post....again as a way to catch up with you all if I don’t manage to get any reviews posted. And as a way to combine books movies and TV because the separate posts for all that isn’t working. Ready?

Weather Small Talk: It’s “sort of” cooling down now that fall is coming but the days are still so hot and dry. We have a huge wildfire in our mountains that’s barely contained and I’m desperately wishing along with everyone else in my state, for rain. So send us rainy wet vibes. We need it so bad!!

On The Idiot Box: Much to my friend Suey’s delight, I’ve started a Korean Drama. She’s been trying to get me to watch some forever it seems and I finally felt like I could commit. I KNEW I was going to get sucked into them and it is a commitment. I’m watching one called Beating Again (it’s on Netflix) that’s so soap opera-y but I’m loving it!!! I also started The Frankenstein Chronicles (also on Netflix) with my husband. We’ve watched 4 episodes and it’s a slow one but I’m getting intrigued. Frankenstein is my all time favorite book so I’m always so wary of spin-offs/retellings etc. but this one is good.
.
Weekly Reads: I rushed through The Orphan Keeper for book club that took place this past week and it was pretty good. I wasn’t blown away but I liked it. And another future book club book, Before We Were Yours, that I’d put on hold, came in so I’m listening to it and really liking it so far.

Crazy Kitties: My older cat,Buns, is quite the nuisance lately. I have to watch her like a hawk to make sure she uses the kitty litter. I’ve brought her to the vet and everything checks out but she’s just such a stinker about using the kitty litter. I think she hates sharing with our other kitty, Belly. And, yes, I have plenty of litter boxes for the both of them. I even added a new one to no avail. :( Belly is getting a touch more snuggly as the weather cools down. In the summer she hardly lets me touch her.

This Past Week: We’re selling our rentals! Ahhhh! I know, right? I thought we would have them for life but we’re investing elsewhere. We spent over a week getting one ready to put on the market and that’s kept me busy but it’s on the market and under contract already so here’s hoping all goes well. And now maybe I can take a breather.

Movie(S) of the Week: We saw The Nun on Sunday and it was fun...for a horror movie. I laughed a lot and even jumped once. We also saw A Simple Favor. Which was way better than the book but still pretty dumb. But if you’re going to pick you should just go see the movie. My scathing review of the book will be up on Monday.

Food Talk: Let me tell you a little secret: When you don’t have kids and you hate to cook you end up eating out way too much. I’ve discovered that the Italian salad dressing at The Texas Roadhouse is to die for. So I pour a butt-load of it on my salad and pretend I’m so healthy. ;)

Plans For The Upcoming Week: I don’t know!!! It’s so crazy when the summer winds down and I don’t have to mow at the rentals or take care of the pool. I think I might have time to actually read and binge watch my K-drama. Crazy!

  1. Good luck with the new investments and the kitty problem. Nothing like the smell of old cat urine *ewwww* Once my daughter left for college, I stopped cooking, but because I am cheap, I just ate cereal instead of going out.

    1. Right? Cats can be so annoying! I should be cheap but I’m not. :(

  2. I hope the selling of your rentals sells well and that your new investments go well. Enjoy your reading and kdrama time this week!

  3. We currently have a kitty problem, haha. We already had two well-established cats (sisters) that we've had since they were babies (their mom was hit by a car). Last week... our son found a kitten on one of our walks. It's been raining on and off for weeks, and this kitten was soaked and muddy. We took it home and cleaned it up, and things were fine, but now it's comfortable and being obnoxious. He terrorizes our older cats, bites our feet when we walk past whatever furniture he's hiding under, and sleeps in my computer chair when I'm trying to work. He's also purrs like crazy, which I love, and he's a big snuggler. We're all adjusting! Haha.

    Good luck!

    1. Aw! I’m so glad you rescued him. Kittens can be a handful.

  4. Sounds like a busy week! And I'm glad you've decided to binge watch K-dramas, though I haven't watched Beating Again. Hope it's a good one.

  5. Sending rainy vibes for sure! And I can relate on the cat stuff- our three have been taking liberties too. Or maybe just one is- we weren't sure which one was "freelancing". Idiot cats lol.

Good luck with selling the rentals. And that Italian salad dressing sounds good. Now I want texas Roadhouse...

    1. Thanks! We need it so bad. Cats are so cute but so annoying. Glad I'm not the only one dealing with it.

  6. I am so ready for Fall like weather- thankfully it's been rainy here, but it's still a little warm and humid.

That's awesome that you're already under contract for your first rental on the market! Hope all your sales go quick and smoothly!

And yes, since it's just me and the Hubs, it is all too easy to just get takeout or go out to a restaurant. We both work so much, and I hate to cook, so unless I'm actively meal prepping for health eating, I'm too tired to cook every damn night.

  8. I hope the weather up there cools off a lot in the next week because I'll be in Provo on Friday! The husband and I head to Chile on Monday, so it will be a short stay in your neck of the woods, but I hope to get at least a little bit of Fall crispness while I'm there. Keep your fingers crossed!

Also, I loved BEFORE WE WERE YOURS. I hope you keep enjoying it.

    1. It’s supposed to rain mid week. That should cool things off for you. I finished it. I really liked it.
