TV Talk Sundays #6
Hi! I haven't done one of these boring posts for awhile! So just in the nick of time, here you go.
Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming
(On TV now)
Season finales have happened, people. Let's talk.
Jane The Virgin
What. The. Actual. F#&*! Did you guy's see this? I can't even! Mind blown! Why?! Why did it end that way? My only hope is that we have a long lost twin on our hands cause I just can't handle it!!!
9-1-1
Much less of a cliffhanger here. I do hope this series gets picked up for season two. It's completely ridiculous but I kinda like it.
The Good Doctor
This one had me choking up. I couldn't have handled watching poor Sean lose one more person in his life. This one better be coming back!
The Resident
I was SOOOOOOO happy to watch stupid Dr. Hunter get dragged off by the FBI. She's the biggest Beotch! If this one comes back next season I'll be watching. What can I say? I'm a sucker for medical dramas...even if they are all the same.
Netflix
I've been watching The Chalet thanks to Greg's recommendation and liking it. If you like mysteries and can handle subtitles you should check it out.
I'm still working through season two of Jessica Jones but sadly am taking forever.
Aaaaaand that's all I have to report on. This is my busy time of year taking care of too many yards so I never have as much time as I want. The heat does drive me inside though so hopefully I can catch up on my ridiculously long Netflix watch list. That being said, I probably won't be doing too many of these posts during the summer. see how much faith I have in myself?) But you never know, miracles do happen.

TV Talk Sundays #5
Hmmm, I'm wondering if I should even bother doing this post anymore. Or maybe I should make it a monthly post. Oh well.
Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming
(On TV Now)
Jane The Virgin
They really amped up the drama here! I think this plot twist with Xiomara will be hard since my mother died of breast cancer. :(
9-1-1
While I'm not really a big believer in karma this episode made me smile. Those jerks deserved what they got!
The Good Doctor
No new episode this week. Sigh!
The Resident
This episode almost made me cry. Why can't doctors actually listen to their patients like Dr. Hawkins does in this episode? I can't tell you how many times I've been looked at like a disease or a problem rather than a human being, let alone a unique individual.
Netflix
The Crown
I finally finished season 2! I loved that last episode. Especially when Phillip tells everyone to shut up and the photographer to take the photo. Now it's just the long wait for season 3.
Jessica Jones
It's back!!! Season 2 is here! I haven't started it yet but I will. I'm very excited, though it won't be as fun without David Tennant. I'm not sure if I'll love it as much.
Haven't watched anything else on Netflix, though my list is miles long.
Amazon Prime
Victoria
I finished season 1 of Victoria and enjoyed it immensely. I wish season 2 was on there too. I'll have to see if I can find another platform to watch it on. The romance between the cook and Nancy broke my heart. I loved the cook...thought I can't think of his name.

TV Talk Sundays #4
Alright, this is a little late but I've been off my game lately. I'm happy the Olympics are finally over and we can get back to our regularly scheduled programming. I was starting to have withdrawals!
Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming
(on TV now)
Jane The Virgin
I felt sort of "meh" about this weeks episode. I feel like they've lost momentum. Hopefully things pick up soon.
9-1-1
This week's episode tackled the full moon and all the crazies that come out. I laughed at the prenatal yoga class when three women went into labor. As usual this show makes me roll my eyes but it's still fun to watch.
The Good Doctor
And they introduced a new doctor. I actually liked this guy. He's older and I can see him butting heads with the other doctors but that's got to be a good thing, right?
The Resident
This show is starting to piss me off. It shows the greed of hospital CEOs so well that it's making me sick. Our health care system is so messed up and whoever you want to blame, that's fine but the real villain is greed. It's all about the money. Ugh! I don't know if I can even keep watching.
Netflix
The Crown
Still slowly making my way through season two. I love looking up each episode after I watch and seeing what was accurate and what's not. It's usually pretty close to truth. Anyone else watch the episode with Charles going to that school and wanting to choke him out? Sorry, I know he's the future king of England but he's such a little pansy.
Amazon Prime
Victoria
I've started watching Victoria on Prime and while it's not as accurate as The Crown I still enjoy it. It's entertaining and fun to watch. Anyone else seen it? You should check it out. The guy who plays Albert is very, very dreamy!

TV Talk Sundays #3
This week sort of sucked for TV watching. Not the content but the amount. Not much to report on but I don't think you'll mind.
Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming
(On TV Now)
9-9-1
9-1-1 took on Valentines day and introduced us to the craziest woman scorned ever! Seriously. This girl rivals Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. It was pretty funny...in a disturbing way. The event with Buck and Abby was weird. I'm not sure why they threw that in unless it was to introduce a future relationship with Abby and Nash???
The Good Doctor
I don't like this new girl. Is she sticking around? I hope not.
The Resident
What the hell is going on with Dr. Hunter's clinic? Color me intrigued.
Jane the Virgin
Last weeks episode was interesting. Can I just say how much Rogelio amuses me? I love him! Jane and Raphael. Meh. I don't know what I think. I guess we'll see. The latest episode was all sorts of drama as usual. I really loved what Jane said to Alba about her beliefs. Is it really what she believed or what she’d been told to believe? A very relevant question when it comes to religion, don’t you think?
Netflix
I didn't watch anything on Netflix but old re-runs of Frasier. I need to finish season two of The Crown and I wanted to check out Altered Carbon even though I'm hearing it's a disappointment.
Amazon
Nothing
Hulu
Nothing. I think I should note I use Hulu to watch all my "current" shows. I don't have cable anymore. I want to check out The Handmaid's Tale but still haven't. Sigh!

TV Talk Sundays #2
Another week has passed and hours in front of the TV with it. I'll admit I watch way too much TV. Especially when it's cold outside and snuggling up inside is so appealing.
Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming
(On TV Now)
The Good Doctor
Wasn't new this week! I cried a little. I love this show so much that when there's not a new episode on it's a dark, dark day.
The Resident
Strong episode this week. It brought up the ugly truth of the health care system in this country and the greedy hospital CEOs. It made me mad! It was very rewarding to watch that little bimbo pushing everyone to make patients have more expensive tests get put in her place.
9-1-1
Way more character centered this week. There was hardly any "emergencies" to witness. No sure what I thought of that.
Jane The Virgin
Who's a complete slacker and hasn't watched this week's episode yet? Me! I'll get to it and catch you up next week.
Netflix
The Crown
I watched 2 more episodes of season two this week. I really loved the episode about Elizabeth's sister and her new love interest the photographer. Very fun episode! The other episode about The Duke of Windsor and what he did in WWII was shocking. I had no idea all that happened. Yuck!
Amazon Prime
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
I INHALED the entire 1st season of this one this week! Have you head about it? It's done by the creators of Gilmore Girls. Just BE AWARE this is NOT Gilmore Girls. This isn't edited for content because it's on TV. There's swearing and some brief nudity. That aside, I hope you still give this delightful, Golden Globe winner comedy a shot. It was excellent. I loved the feel of it, the story line, the wonderful cast of characters. I LOVED it! LOVED it! Seriously. I'm so sad there's not another season waiting for me yet.

TV Talk Sundays #1
It's been while...like a ridiculously long time...since I talked TV. I don't watch nearly as many shows as I used to but I still watch some stuff and with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon series becoming a thing I decided it was time to talk TV again so I thought I'd devote Sundays to TV Talk.
Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming
(On TV Now)
Jane the Virgin
I've watched this show from the beginning. I love it. It's ridiculous and overly dramatic but get in the right mind set and it's thoroughly enjoyable. This season has been a bit all over the place. I'm getting a bit tired of the on again off again relationship between Jane and Raphael. I'm not sure what I think about recent developments but am willing to watch it all play out.
The Gifted
I'll watch just about anything with mutants. The first season of this one was just OK for me. I was invested enough to watch it all the way through but only found it so so. I'm not sure if it will come back for a second season but if it does I might give it a few more episodes.
The Good Doctor
I freaking LOVE this show. Freddy Highmore has my heart strings tied to him. Every move he makes in this one just gets to me. I've been very invested in this season and really hope they pick it up for more seasons. Have you seen this one? If not, you need to go watch it! It has all the fun of a medical show with a just the right amount of drama.
The Resident
Here we have a doctor show that's a bit heavy on the drama. This one just started and I'm liking it but as I mentioned, it is a bit overly dramatic. I think Dr. Bell is a complete dick! After the very first scene, though, I think we're supposed to hate him. Well, job well done! I can't stand him! As much as I want to hate Dr. Hawkins (because I hated him as Logan in Gilmore Girls) I find him likable. Weird. Emily VanCamp as Nicolette is strange after her role in Revenge. I find her a bit too squeaky clean and the plot device of her as Hawkin's conscience a bit tiresome and overused. I don't mention Dr. Feldman because I find him boring. I think he's supposed to be the relatable Dr but he's as dry as burnt toast.
I'll be sticking with this one though. I'm a sucker for medical shows.
9-1-1
This show is ridiculous. It's fast paced and addictive as hell but I find the emergencies absolutely crazy. It would be OK to have a slightly more believable albeit "boring" emergency to happen. I'm invested in the cast's lives, though and want more.
Netflix Series
(Currently Watching)
Stranger Things
I think it's safe to say I love this one. They need a new enemy though. I didn't like that she defeated Demogorgon but at the end it was all, maybe she didn't. I hate that.
The Crown
I'm only a few episodes in to season two so no spoilers please! I really hate that every one else's life get destroyed just so the royal family looks good. And does anyone else struggle to feel sympathy for Elizabeth? She's so prudish and proper. Geeze! Lighten up. Have a heart!
I won't mention all the other Netflix series I'm watching right now because I'm not watching them. Meaning I'm in the middle of them but haven't watched them for some time. I am looking forward to the new season of Jessica Jones though.

On My Mind This Fine Day #12
It's time for some more randomness!
1 Ugh! I'm in such a blogging slump! Somehow, with all the craziness going on in my life, I'm still managing to read great but blogging??? Not so much. So...I did write a review the other day and started getting annoyed with all the things I list. Like: Title, Author, Genre, Pages, etc. I love adding the first line of every book but are all those other things necessary? Do you even look at them? Sometimes I've seen people post the name of the series the book is in and what number it is which I really like but the other stuff...I don't know if it's necessary. Can't you just read the title and author off the picture of the book? I don't know tell me what you think.
2 Speaking of all the craziness. My husband and I own a duplex and had to send a tenant packing. We decided to renovate her side because it was in dire need of help. It's exhausting because we do so much of it ourselves. This time we decided to hire out the paint job because...well let's just say the words mental and breakdown were bandied about. So we got some bids, hired it out and...I should just do these things myself! I'm such a control freak I want to hover over their shoulders and correct every little thing they do! I'm going to get through this. I just need to remember to breathe!
3 Shout out time! I used to be utterly obsessed with TV. I'd watch a million shows live (none of that DVR stuff for me). I knew what new shows were coming out each season and would make a schedule so I could check them out...you may remember because I posted about it a few times. Anywho, I hardly watch TV now. I just can't seem to get in to anything anymore. BUT! I love Jane The Virgin. It's so ridiculously, stupidly perfect! Have you seen it? Cause season 1 is on Netflix. You should watch it. I also actually have gotten into another show too. ABC's The Family. You may have seen me Tweeting about it. It's so addicting! Go on, check it out. Oh, and Game of Thrones is coming back! Wahoo!

In My Thoughts This Fine Day #9
Yes, I finally started watching Game of Thrones. I'm only on the first season and totally hooked so no spoilers. So far I'm mostly interested in Daenerys. I think it's because I know she's getting a dragon and this excites me. Plus I just like watching her come out of her shell. I also like Tyrion. Yes, he's a Lannister but I like him. Hate his sister, though. Anywho, it's all very intriguing. Any one else out there watch the series? Should I read the series like ASAP or just keep watching the show?
I feel like a lot of books I've been reading lately all start off pretty good and then somewhere in the middle they lose steam, or maybe I do. All I know is I've started several books and been really into them and then suddenly I just don't want to finish them. Anyone else notice this?I can't decide if it's me or if authors start writing a book that's pretty dang good but not quite fleshed out so by the middle they start scrambling for a finish???I don't know.
Does this movie look familiar? The Money Pit. It's hilarious...when it's a movie. See, my hot husband and I have bought a house and are remodeling.(that's why I'm not around as much as I'd like to be) No, it's not as dramatic as the movie but sometimes, I tell you, I find myself just laughing hysterically at the things that go wrong. I can't wait to be done!

In My Thoughts This Fine Day # 7
1 I finally got to watch Downton Abbey season 2. So here comes the gushing. First, Branson and Sybil! Eeep! Favorite part ever was when the house was putting on a show for the soldiers and Mary was singing. The way Branson was looking at Sybil....Sigh!!!! All the drama with Bates and Anna was stressful. Enough said. K, Mary didn't annoy me quite that bad this season but...and don't kill me...I just don't get the fascination with Matthew. I don't particularly like him. He's too effeminate and whiny!
2 I'm finally getting a little reading steam back but the blogging is still overwhelming me. Mostly I'm just so busy and tired all of the time that when I get home from work all I want to do is watch TV and sleep. If I try to read, I fall asleep almost instantly. It's driving me crazy, people! I don't know what to do! :(
3 Speaking of TV...I'm not overly impressed with some of the new shows. I was looking forward to a few of them and was not wowed...at all. The Arrow just can't hold my interest and Beauty and the Beast is way too detective-y for me. Anyone else disappointed in our new shows this season? Thank goodness for some old favorites!

The Sunday Salon Cause It's Been Awhile
Welcome to the new Sunday Salon. A sometimes weekly update post about my boring life. ;)
Weather Small Talk: I'm so freaking sick of it getting cloudy and then not raining! Don't tease me like that!
Music Discoveries: Nothing uber new lately. I have been enjoying the new Keane album. Especially the song Disconnected. What do you think?
On The Idiot Box: My summer series are almost over. I watched Teen Wolf on MTV and was just as entertained as last season. The cliffhangers are horrible! I have one episode of Burn Notice, Suits and Falling Skies left and I'm really worried the latter is going to have the worst cliffhanger ever! And just when all these shows end we have a whole new season of network shows. So much TV!
Weekly Reads: I managed to finish Ender's Game which was complete torture and I'm working on The Maze Runner too.
Crazy Kitty: Is so needy! She misses me now that I'm at work all the time. The other day she was sitting near my stuffed animals (yes, I still have a few) grooming herself when she suddenly looked up angrily at my Eeyore from Whinnie The Pooh and bit him on the nose followed by a lick. It was hilarious!
This Week: I had my family reunion. We went camping. During a game of kickball I pulled something and I'm STILL sore. I'm getting so old! I also had book club and found out I wasn't the only one who thought Ender's Game was boring. Yay!
Movie of the Week: I've seen lot's of movies since I've posted a Sunday Salon. I might have to do another movie review post. Yep, I think I shall. That'll give me something to post until I finish a book for review. ;)
Food Talk: Finding lunches that are easy to bring to work sucks! I used to work at a hotel with a full kitchen and time to cook. Now I have a microwave and that's it. Sigh!
Soccer Sightings: Today the new season of La Liga starts!!! Are you ready for me to start talking soccer again? Cause it's coming. ;P
Plans For The Week: Work, work and more work. :( I also plan on finishing The Maze Runner. I've been working on it for far too long.

In My Thoughts This Fine Day #5
1. So, in this new world of Netflix and On Demand and Red Box, renting a movie is practically a click of a button away. It's quite nice really. I don't have Netflix and rarely use Red Box's but I rent all my movies off On Demand. There's nothing like deciding I want to watch that latest new release and not having to go out to get it or worry that it might be all rented out. With just a few pushes of a button on the remote, I'm watching. Glorious! But, um, there is a not so tiny flaw in this system that really bothers me. I hate that if I want to watch an old favorite that I don't own, I'm screwed. Red Box and On Demand are very limited on movie selections and even Netflix fails more often than not. How the heck are we supposed to watch our old favorites if we didn't buy them? You know? Thank goodness for my local library and their great selection. But how long will that be around? How long until that's obsolete and hundreds of old movies get lost to us forever? Stresses me out, people!
2 I've whined about the Auto Correct on my phone before but now I'm going to whine again. For some unfathomable reason my phone chooses to think that THIS should be THUS. Seriously?! Who the hell even says THUS anymore?! Why on earth would it think THUS must be the word I wanted? Ticks me off! Thus the rant. ;)
3 The whole not using pictures on our blogs that we don't have permission for kinda ticks me off. Mainly because I think if you post a picture on the worldwide web you've pretty much put it out there and need to accept that it's probably going to get stolen. Sorry, but it's true. Plus if I post a picture on my blog and someone steals it I could care less. Why? Because the minute I put it on the internet I accept what all people should. It's out there. It's going to get used. I'm also just mad that I need to go take all the pictures off my old blog posts so I don't run the risk of getting sued. I don't have time, people! Argh. I bet you half the pictures I "stole" were stolen to begin with!

Vampire Preferences
I worry about myself, I really do. For 16 years, give or take, I've been watching TV shows/movies with vampires in them. I think, unless we TRIED to avoid them, we all have. But as I was watching old episodes of the BBC's Being Human and admiring the vampire special effects I started to think of all the vampire effects I've seen and wondering which one I preferred the best. I've chosen and now you all get to tell me your preference. I'm just curious and reaching for blog post ideas. So scroll on down and tell me what you think.
First we have my favorite. The simple black eyed vampire.
The unusually blue eyed vampire.
Then we get into more than just eyes and teeth.
I know, there's a million more ways it's been done but these are a good starting point. Anywho, weigh in. What's your favorite vamped out look? Feel free to mentions other's I've not.

TV Season Wrapup 2011/2012
Well, another TV season is over. The finales aired. The cliffhangers have hung. And I'm left looking back at the season. with a befuddled feeling. Sure there were a few shows that were fun but not that many. In fact, I gave up on some shows...ME the TV addict! So here's my recap of the season for those interested. Um, let's be honest this might take awhile. You're welcome to skim or just read about the shows you watch too.
Old Favorites
House MD It was not only the season finale but the series finale. There was the scare there in the middle of the season about Dr. Chase leaving and that had me a little worked up but all in all I'm not sure what I thought of that ending. There were things that made me smile but I'm not sure House really grew as a person. Maybe that wasn't the point, though. In the end I was satisfied.
America's Next Top Model
For those of you who don't know, there's two cycles (as they call them) during a season. In the fall we had the All Stars Cycle and I wasn't overly thrilled with Lisa winning. It could have been worse but, yeah. The next cycle was the British Invasion and I couldn't be happier with who one! I won't say in case you watch it and haven't see the finale but I'm glad they chose the better girl!
The Vampire Diaries
This season was OK. The whole "who will she choose" had me excited but...I don't know, it just wasn't THAT amazing. Still, I have a blast texting with Suey and my friend who watches it. My sister caught up and watched this season too and that was fun. As for the finale? We were all so confused. Definitely need to watch it again.
The Mentalist
Yeah, I watch this one for the back story of Red John, not the crime solving per se, though that is fun too, but I'm getting a little tired of the Red John thing. They need to kill him off already. They can't keep dragging it out! And what was with that finale?
Supernatural
I do love Dean and Sam! I'll stick with those boys through good and bad seasons. This one wasn't too bad. Not the best season ever but not the worst either. And it had the funniest Supernatural moment ever! I haven't laughed that hard for some time. It still makes me giggle. The finale was fun and had quite the cliffhanger...as usual.
New Shows
Hart Of Dixie
I feel like I shouldn't even say anything about this one because I didn't watch the whole season. I saw enough though. And I'm so mad at the finale...actually I'm not positive it was the finale. I'm just mad that she even liked the butt ugly George! There's no freaking chemistry! Not like there is with Wade! Oh, Wade, forget Zoe, you can have me!
New Girl
This one is just fun! If you're not watching you should. I'm not sure what I think about them dragging out the romance between Jess and Nick but it's still a funny show.
Revenge
Now this show rocked! I was on the edge of my seat all season! The second to last episode of the season had more of a cliffhanger than the actual finale but still. Can't wait for next season! I do wonder where they can go from here. How much can they really drag it out??? We shall see.
Grimm
Took a tinsy bit too long to really hook me but I'm glad I stuck with it. I love the relationship between Nick and Monroe and I have suspicions about Juliette. I'm interested to see where this one goes too.
The Gave Up On
Once Upon A Time
I know! People loved this one but after just one episode I lost interest. And, no, I won't be giving it another try. I just don't care enough.
Ringer
Not sure why I gave up on this one. It had mystery and intrigue but the soap opera feeling just didn't do anything for me.
Harry's Law
:( I wanted to watch this one but it got bumped in lieu of other shows. I might try to catch up on it but I don't know.
Law and Order SVU
No one freaking told me Stabler was leaving the show! I tried to stick with it but I was just too much of a Stabler fan and his absence ruined it for me. I gave up.
The Secret Circle
Besides the fact that the MC drove me bonkers this one was just a bit hokey for me. I might try to finish the season but I don't know. Anyone out there think I should?
Favorite Show This Season!!!!
Being Human BBC version
Holy crap! I'm so in love with this show especially this season! I loved Hal and Tom so much I can't wait till there back! And word is, they will be! Huzzah! Can't wait!

TV Commercial Love
I'm afraid this is going to turn into a bit of a rant so forgive me now, but I'm having a hard time with this world of instant gratification! Especially when it comes to watching TV shows.
Nowadays, as you well know, there's a myriad of ways to watch our favorite shows: Netflix, the internet, On Demand, the list goes on and on. No longer do we have to watch a TV show when it's on or risk never seeing it again. Even if we don't have Netflix or what have you, most people have DVRs and can just record their shows and watch them later...and skip commercials. And here is where my rant comes into play.
I LOVE commercials. 'What?' you say, 'who the heck loves commercials? Who has time for them anymore?' Well, let me tell you why.
1

I LOVE commercials. 'What?' you say, 'who the heck loves commercials? Who has time for them anymore?' Well, let me tell you why.
1
Need I say more?! Oh sure there's the pause button but it's a lot harder in an intense show to make ourselves push that pause button. See? Commercials give us that excuse to be kind to our bladders.
2 I hate, HATE when I see a hilarious commercial and ask someone if they've seen it and not only do they say , 'no, I don't watch "regular TV"' but they look at me like I'm the scum of the earth for still doing so! Well, sorry! Forgive me for not wanting to fork over thousands of dollars a month on instant gratification!
Uh, so anyway, the point is that while most TV commercials are maddening there are some hilarious ones that, more often than not, are funnier than the sitcom I'm watching. And now there's so few people who can even enjoy a laugh with me.
3 I love music. I'm always looking for some new song to discover and blast from the speakers so many times it becomes annoying, even to me. And where, you ask, do I discover these new (to me) songs? Why, from commercials, of course. I have 40 songs on my iPod that were discovered from commercials. And even more if you consider it introduced me to, not just the song, but to the band.
4 Yeah, alright when you're really into a show and there's some big gasp moment and then it goes to commercial it can drive you crazy, but isn't that half the fun? Don't shows lose some of their excitement when there's no break? If you can just click a button and skip the commercials, or the commercials have just been taken out all together, then what's the fun? Where's the tension?
5 Commercials are meant to advertise and I, for one, have found some fun things because of them. Remember the yummy 5alarm burrito from Taco Time. Yep, commercial. How do I know that Blizzards at Dairy Queen are buy one get one for 99 cents through the month of March? Commercial. Hmmm, upon second thought, maybe I don't like what these commercials do for my waistline. ;)
I highly doubt my rant has converted you into watching commercials and that's fine but could people please stop looking at me like I'm crazy when I mention a funny one?!
Phew! Rant over.

Life After TV
It seems, lately, I've seen a few people commenting on their blogs that they didn't have a TV when they were growing up. I didn't have a TV while I was growing up either. So, then, of course, I started wondering if not having a TV in the home creates better readers. Cause you know me, I over analyse everything. ;)
I'm not saying I didn't watch TV as a kid. I would spend huge amounts of time at my friends house just so I COULD watch TV. And when I was about 17-18 I bought a TV and began watching even more ridiculous amounts of it. I still watch anywhere from 9-18 hours a week. Eeek! Scary.
The funny thing is, yes, I watch more TV as an adult then I did as a kid, because of availability, but I also read more as an adult too. So, I'm not sure NOT having a TV made a difference with me, but since I didn't have a TV how can I really know? "They" have done research and found that kids who watch TV have shorter attention spans so who knows.
So, I present the question to you. Did you have a TV as a kid? Did it effect your reading as a kid or, now, as an adult? And either way, do you have a opinion about whether TV watching affects our reading ability?
