Sunday Salon:

Welcome to the new Sunday Salon. A weekly update post about my boring life. ;)

Weather Small Talk: Well, we kept getting told it was going to snow but all we've gotten is rain. Actually, as I hate snow, I'm fine with this.

On The Idiot Box: Oh boy, lets see. I checked out the new show on FOX called Alcatraz. You heard of this one? I watched it and think it has serious potential. I'd say it's a mix between Lost and Prison Break but since I didn't watch those shows I can't say for sure. I also checked out The Finder on FOX and was way less impressed. I'm loving Revenge still, just in case you wondered. And I missed all my other shows and am still trying to catch up on those so no news there.

Weekly Reads: I finished I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith for book club and enjoyed it. I also read Looking For Alaska by John Green and am very nervous about writing a review because, well, I didn't like it so much. :( Anywho, I started Cinder by Marissa Myer and am liking it so far.

Crazy Kitty: Not so crazy this last week. She's been sleeping and sleeping and...you guessed it sleeping! Depression maybe???

This Week: Well, I had book club which is always awesome and a definite highlight of my month. I did a new kickboxing routine that made me so sore I had to take a day off from exercising and I saw the awesome movie I've been waiting for...but more about that right....

Movie of the Week: ...Now! I've been waiting and waiting for the new Underworld movie to come out and so when it came out on Friday I was so there! I even saw it in 3D and it was pretty cool but  I was so worried that because they did it in 3D they'd forget that they were actually telling a story but no worries. It was AWESOME! I love these movies!

Food Talk: Um, this is SOOO bad but I saw a commercial for Taco Time's 5 Alarm Burrito and I know it's fattening and totally against my diet but I had to try it. :( It was super yummy! I mean take a big fattening burrito with spicy sauce and add tater tots and I'm a goner!

Soccer Sightings: Sheesh! I don't know what's up with me lately but I forgot another soccer game! Ahhh! And by the time I remembered it was over and...they'd lost. :( See? If I don't watch they lose.

Music Discoveries: I didn't actually discover anything new this week so I'd thought I'd share a secret. I happen to be obsessed with 50's 60's music and here's a favorite.

Plans For The Week: It seems like I've been waiting for this book forever! At long last Brodi Ashton's Everneath is coming out and I get to go to the launch party! YAY!

  1. I'm sorry you didn't like Looking For Alaska. It's definitely one of those books that can go either way. Once I figured out what happened in the middle, I was so mad. But it's not the first book I've read with *ahem* THAT happening (must not spoil book for people reading comments, lol). Sometimes for me I can be okay with it, because it's real. If any of that makes sense...

In any case, I wouldn't worry about posting your review (it won't bother me!). Honesty is the best way to go. Not only that, but you're not the only one who didn't enjoy it. I mean, take a look at the number of people who gave it one and two star reviews.

    1. Yeah, I saw there were others who didn't like it so I'll write the review. I feel like such a picky little nag, though. :(

  2. Hey Jenny, I'm really wishing I had a Taco Time, dammit. I haven't been to see the new Underworld movie yet but I def need to, I love Kate Beckinsale as a vamp ;)

  4. Awesome song. I love 50s and 60s too... and 70s. And 80s.

    Do the review.

Weird that you keeping forgetting the soccer games! what's up with that?

    See you on Tuesday!

    1. Yeah, I like 70's music but only the rock stuff usually. I'm going to do the review, don't worry. I don't know what's up with the soccer games. I've been so out of it lately. There's on on in 15 minutes and I'm remembering it!

  5. I'm sad we finally got the dreaded snow. :( (at least where I live we did. yuck) And I'm so with you on Looking for Alaska. That was the first John Green book I ever read and I promptly swore him off (not literally) after that. I could go on & on about all the things in that one that bothered me. But, I think it's *by far* his weakest book. His new one is amazing. I wish the Everneath party were in Utah County, and then I would totally go.

    1. Yeah, I wrote this post last night before it snowed. I'm sad about it too but it doesn't seem to be sticking around. I've read Paper Towns and liked it but now I'm not so sure...It'll all be in the review. If you don't want to drive to SLC there's some of us bloggers car pooling up together, I'm sure you could come too.

  8. We are waiting on pizza as I type this... so don't feel so bad about the burrito. It has been raining here too, for 3 days on and off... go away!! Snow is fine with me though, I love it. :P And you have to - no NEED to watch Prison Break!!

    1. So I've heard. Alright, one of these days I'll get to it. Enjoy your pizza!

  9. Just saw the "Underworld" movie last night. It had trouble deciding if it was horror or action, and there's a lot of plot points, but it delivered exactly what I hoped it would: a kick-ass heroine who fights for what she knows is right, and looks smokin' hot in the process. Action, gore (a little too much, really), awesome special effects. I loved it!

  10. I'm hoping to see the new Underworld movie, but my *wee little* hometown doesn't have a 3-D theatre, so I might have to wait awhile. Which would give me time to re-watch the earlier films...ah, Michael...

You've gone and made me hungry with that burrito. Again, so I'll just have to content myself with fantasy. LOL

    1. Well, it is out in 2D too. Either way it's good. Yeah, Michael...Sigh!

  11. I should probably count my blessings that I think that taco looks disgusting. I'm working on the diet, myself. Have lost 25 pounds in 8 or 9 months -- nowhere near as much as you have, but I'm happy! Congrats on your weight loss! I laughed at the pics of you in the car but I was on my iPad and since my full-size keyboard was broken (nobody admits they might have sat on it, but 4 keys falling out all at once is kind of fishy, if you ask me) I didn't say anything, that day.

I enjoyed I Capture the Castle, too. Looking for Alaska . . . I liked it, but it's maybe a little too real for me in some ways. There was a lot I liked about it, though.

    1. Yes, definitely count your blessings that you're not dreaming about that stupid burrito! Way to go on the weight loss! And don't feel bad. What I failed to mention was it took me 16 months to lose those 85 pounds.

      Your poor abused iPad! :(

  12. Lovely weekly report. First, it was lovely to see you at book club. Second, you really need to be more responsible about watching the soccer games if they lose every time you don't. And I really hope you post the LOOKING FOR ALASKA review, even if it might raise some eyebrows. Ooh, and I want to check out Alcatraz. I've had an obsession with that island since I was little. :)

    1. Oh, good! I'm glad you enjoy seeing me at book club. I enjoy seeing you too. This last week was particularly fun!

Ah, the soccer games! It's not just them, though, I'm forgetting all sorts of things lately!

My review is written for better or for worse and will be posted tomorrow...gulp!

  13. I hope Underworld comes out in 2D as well because I hate 3D movies. It gives me a headache to wear my glasses and then 3D glasses on top as well. I can't believe you never watched Prison Break or Lost?!? Crazy! I'm so jealous you have a bookclub. There's not many of those around where I live so I just annoy all you guys :)

    1. Yeah, Underworld came out in 2D here so hopefully it will there. You should take it upon yourself to start a book club. ;)
