Today The Broke and the Bookish asks the question: What are your top ten beach reads? Link on over and join us.
Well, first off I'm land locked so unfortunately, really unfortunately, I don't get to sit by the beach, listen to the waves, and read a great book. However, I always think of beach books as something light and easy to read. Something you can take your eyes away from, every so often, to stare at the beauty around you and then dive back in without missing a thing. So here they are. The top ten books I'd love to read on a beach.
1 Something Blue by Emily Giffin.
Well, any of her books would do. They are so fun and light and totally draw you in.
2 The Weather Warden Series by Rachel Caine
Oh, I hate even admitting I like these but I can't resist. I wouldn't call them deep or amazing but there just so dang fun and creative!
3 Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Alright, it's Paris not the beach, but it's a fun read!
4 The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
The whole time I read this book I wanted to go to the beach soooo bad! So, where else does it belong but the beach?
5 Need series by Carrie Jones
Freezing cold Maine in the winter...Come on who wouldn't want to be someplace warm while reading these?
6 Undine by Penni Russon
OK, I think this one is pretty self explanatory.
7 The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory
Any of her books will do. I read one, or try to, every summer. This one was my favorite.
8 Persuasion by Jane Austen
Everyone should read a good Austen at the beach, and this one is so fitting.
9 Harry Potter series by...seriously? You need me to tell you?
These are just ones I've read over and over and wouldn't take much concentration or attention away from the view.
10 I Am The Messenger by Markus Zusak
This is a absolute favorite of mine, and I think favorites belong at the beach. Don't you?
So, there you have it. What books would you bring to the beach?
Hi Jenny! Let's go to the beach and read. You could bring me that book I can't remember reading.
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck are you doing up at this hour in the morning? are you sick?
ReplyDeleteSounds to me that they are excellent summer reads! Can you believe I have not read any of them...!
ReplyDeleteAnna and the French Kiss is one book I desperately need to get my hands on! The Summer I Turned Pretty is amazing (i have that on my list too!) and I tried reading Persuasion, but ended up somewhat a bit confused. I'll have to give it another go! Nice list and happy reading! :D
ReplyDeleteSome very eclectic choices! I like it. And I totally wanted to be on the beach when I read The Summer I Turned Pretty :) Now I got to find me a beach (in land-locked, desert AZ).
ReplyDeletegreat beach reads!
ReplyDeleteIf I believed in reading books at the beach, Anna and the French Kiss would definitely make my list.
ReplyDeleteNice choices! Harry Potter made my list, and if I'd been thinking Anna would have too. :)
ReplyDeleteTechno Grandma, No, I'm not sick I programmed the blog to post all by itself. And I'm up for the beach trip but Buns will have to come.
ReplyDeleteSelina, That's OK. I'm sure there's lots of books you've read that I haven't but, um, the Harry Potter books? You haven't read the Harry Potter books?!
iLuvReadingTooMuch, Persuasion is one of my favorites! You could watch a movie adaption and then try the book.
Melissa, K, but when you find that beach give me a holler I'll join you. ;)
Sarah, Thanks, I thought so.
Jenni Elyse, Wait! What?! You don't like to read at the beach? to be honest I've never done it but only because I so rarely go.
Kathy, I'm glad we agree on the Harry Potter books. And I'm thinking Anna will be on a lot of peoples lists.
I want to read Something Blue now because I saw Something Borrowed recently and I want to know how the story ends :)
ReplyDeleteTheBookGirl, Something Blue is the only one I've read. I want to read all her books eventually they totally draw you in.
