October Wrap-Up 2017

My favorite month of the year is over. Honestly, though, this October wasn't so great. On the 1st of this month, the untreatable cancer my mother has ate enough of her spine that it fractured in several places leaving her bed bound and in a lot of pain. The cancer in her lungs was cutting her oxygen just enough to make her levels low and as a result she was uncomfortable and cranky. She's on oxygen now and the pain killers are balanced enough to keep her comfortable so that's good but sadly, my family and I are left in that waiting period and feeling pretty helpless. On top of all that my husband and I were scrambling to get one of our rentals remodeled and rented and then another tenant moved out and we had to find renters for that unit as well. It's been a rough month but things look to be calming down. I managed to read 8 books, (audio books are awesome!) rake all the leaves, and even managed a visit down south to see my mom. Trying really hard to stay positive here!

A crime novel that surprised and entertained. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
Incredibly stupid story with awful characters. ⭐️

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
ANOTHER multiverse story with nothing new to offer. ⭐️⭐️

The Warden's Daughter by Jerry Spinelli
A delightful middle grade/YA novel with depth and heart. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel
Way too disturbing of a story but what beautiful writing. ⭐️⭐️

The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen
A sweet story with a good message. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Girl Who Chased The Moon by Sarah Addison Allen
Warm and fuzzy comfort read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Favorites of the month were The Warden's Daughter and the much needed comfort reads by Allen. Least Favorite was Imaginary Girls.

October Wrap-Up 2016

Hey guys! Despite my blogging slump my reading seems to be doing OK. I didn't think I read 6 books in October but I did. This makes me happy. If I really cram maybe I can meet my Goodreads goal after all. That means I have to read 9 books in November and 9 books in December...hmmm. Probably not going to happen but a girl can try, right? Anyway, Here's what I read in October.

The Girl with all the Gifts by M.R. Carey, Dead Ringer by Jessie Rosen, Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris, The Sculptor by Scott McCloud, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black and Blood Harvest by S.J. Bolton

Favorites of the month were The Sculptor and Behind Closed Doors. Least Favorites:  Dead Ringer and Blood Harvest.

October Wrap-Up

October is over. My favorite month of the year. :( Oh well, November is my second favorite month, so it's all good.  I actually read quite a bit this month. Check it out.

All in all a good read. Nothing really groundbreaking or anything.

October Wrapup 2012

Oh boy. Well at least I read two books this month.  Life's been crazy busy and I've been stressed and depressed. I'm sorry to all my blogging friends. Excuse my absence around here and on your own blogs. I'm not giving up but I need a break. :( Anywho, Here's the two books I read this month.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E Smith
Cute and fun with just a touch of depth.

Odd Apocalypse by Dean Koontz 
Weird and creepy but, oh, how I LOVE Odd.


Yep, that's it. And I liked them both. So I guess if you only manage two books in a month but you love them both then it's not too shabby. Am I right? ;)

October Wrapup

It's time for another pointless boring wrapup post that you all could probably care less about. ;)
Because I co hosted and participated in a group read of Under the Dome I seriously didn't expect to read too many books this month, but with the help of the read-a-thon I managed more than I thought.

Under the Dome by Stephen King
A great spooky read for October. I love King's ability to create unique, memorable characters.

The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf
After all the dang hype I thought it would be better...not so much.

Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers
Oh, this book ticked me off!!! Review coming soon.

Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken
Sigh, I had such high hopes. It wasn't dreadful but it wasn't great either.

The Sweet, Terrible, Glorious Year I Truly, Completely Lost It by Lisa Shanahan

A hilarious book with some real depth to it. 

Crossed (matched 2) by Ally Condie 

One big circle of a book. Filler. 

Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn

A religious bashing book in the guise of wordy fun. Grrrr, aggravating! 

The DUFF by Kody Keplinger

A surprisingly great book! Be warned it was a bit risque. 

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson 

Well written, well loved...no complaints here. 

So that was my October. My favorite were The Duff and The Sweet, Terrible, Glorious Year I Truly, Completely Lost It. Least favorites were Ella Minnow Pea and Some Girls Are.
