April Wrap-Up 2018

April was a busy month for me. With the concrete poured we got to start putting patio furniture in but that meant assembly which was a big headache. Plus it looks like spring is finally here and so we've had to start mowing at our rentals so....yeah, I'm crazy busy and when I get busy I often don't feel like reading in my downtime. So I didn't read that much this month. Dewy's 24 Hour Readthon helped me get two more books under my belt though.

Our new swing, Cliff has made himself at home, and the new fence on the north side of the house

Pergola minus the fire pit.  I'll get complete pictures one day
So there's a few pictures of the backyard for you. Now onto the books.

Drama by Raina Telgemeier, Optimists Die First by Susan Nielsen, Daughter of the Sun by Zoe Kalo, My Sister's Bones by Nuala Ellwood, Ross Poldark by Winston Graham and Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney

Favorite of the month with five stars was Optimists Die First. Least Favorites was Daughter of the Sun.

Read-a-thon Time!

via GIPHY

It seems like the last few read-a-thons fell by the wayside for me so this time I'm participating!

I've got my books which consist of two graphic novels a chick lit and a non fiction I'll be reading a chapter or two from.

I've got waaaaaaay too many snacks....

I've got my kitties....

I'm ready! I'll probably do most of my updating on Twitter and Instagram so feel free to follow me there. I'll be using #readathon.

Will you be joining? If not, you should. It's so fun!

April Wrap Up 2016

It's time for my April wrap up! I've been in such a blogging slump and my real life has been so jammed back but I did manage to read four books. I've decided to shake up my wrap up post. I'm stealing the idea from Kate over at Midnight Book Girl. I hope she doesn't mind. Here you have it.

Books Read:
Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffing, Blackmoore by Julianne Donaldson, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and The Selection by Kiera Cass.

Favorite of the month:

Blackmoore by Julianne Donaldson (Review to come)
Loved the banter and swoony romance but the ending irked me.

What did you read? Have you read any of these? Tell me what you thought.

Readathon!

It's that special time again! Sat April, 23rd! Get your read on!

The place...

My Library!
The Books...

Just the one I'll be working on.

The Snacks...

Mmmm! Grasshopper cookies!

And, yeah! So I probably won't actually be able to participate very much this time. Stupid life! That's why I only have one book to work on. I do plan to read what I can and snack on my yummy treats. Everyone have fun! I'll see you on the other side!

April Wrapup

I seriously almost considered not posting a wrapup this month. I only read two books.*hangs head in shame* I did, however, get the basement apartment finished, found renters and began the process of working on the yard. See! I have a good reason for not reading very much. Anywho, here you go.

The Princess Guide to Life by Rosie Blythe
A self help that sounded froofy but ended up having some depth to it. I liked it

The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
Way too much set up and nothingness for a total let down of an ending. Yuck!

Favorite of the month. I guess The Princess Guide to life, though I didn't LOVE it. Least favorite was obviously the Golem and the Jinni.

Plans for May

I definitely want to read more. I've got Dune to finish for book club and the Read Along. Cress to finish for fun. I got Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen on a whim at the Library and need to get it read and returned, as well.

Also I shall be working more on the yard. It went from looking like this...

To this....

:( Way too much neglect. So I'm doing a complete overhaul. One day I'll post pictures of it finished.
Have a great May everyone!

April Wrapup

Wow! April's over and I've done a monthly wrapup post for a whole year now!

It was a weird month. The first half went well the second seemed to drag a bit. I think that had more to do with my mood than what I read but oh well. Here's what I read this month.

The Minority Council (Matthew Swift 4) by Kate Griffin.
Awesomeness of course! If you'd give in and read these already, you'd know what I'm talking about. ;)

Black Heart (Curse Workers 3) by Holly Black
I really hope she writes more in this series. I NEED more Cassel

Watership Down by Richard Adams
500 pages about bunnies? A touch long.

The Demon's Lexicon (Demon's Lexicon Trilogy 1) by Sarah Rees Brennan
I'm intrigued, more please.

Return to Exile (The Hunter Chronicles 1) by E.J Patten
The next great MG? I can see that. Witty humor and crazy adventure.

Yeah, that's all the reading I accomplished this month. Favorites were, The Minority Council (obviously) and Black Heart. Least favorite, Watership down.

April Wrapup

Isn't that cute "springy April" fun? Well, that's how April should be but I we woke up to a good two inches of snow! That's Utah for you.

So books I read in April. Here they are.

North of Beautiful
Liked the message but not very engaging.

The Neon Court
By far, the highlight of the month and probably the whole year! The third in a series I absolutely adore!

Red Glove
Another one I gobbled up. The second in a series I'm thoroughly enjoying.

Sleepless
Just plain weird, scattered, and unbelievable.

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie
I enjoyed Flavia, laughed on nearly every page and enjoyed the mystery, but it was still hard to really get into.

Never Let Me Go
Please someone explain this one to me???

Wither
Meh, to many things just didn't add up.

Dogsbody
An engaging read with just a little too much filler in the middle.

Three Black Swans
Interesting story, but the editing was so awful it was hard to muddle through.

And there you have it. Two I loved, three okays, three disappointments and one I just didn't get.
How did your month go?
